Troy Davis Executed After Stay Denied by Supreme Court

Troy Davis was executed this evening after the U.S. Supreme Court denied a last-minute stay of execution.
Davis died at 11:08 p.m., according to a Georgia Department of Corrections official.
The execution was delayed more than four hours as the U.S. Supreme Court weighed last-minute arguments from Davis' legal team and the state of Georgia over whether his execution should be blocked.
The court's decision to deny the stay came without comment after 10 p.m. ET.
At 7:05 p.m. ET, five minutes after his scheduled death, Davis' supporters erupted in cheers, hugs and tears outside the jail in Jackson, Ga., as supporters believed Davis had been saved from the death penalty. But Davis was granted only a temporary reprieve as the Supreme Court considered the decision.
Davis was convicted of the 1989 murder of off-duty Savannah, Ga., policeman Mark MacPhail, and had his execution stayed four times over the course of his 22 years on death row, but multiple legal appeals during that time failed to prove his innocence.
Public support grew for Davis based on the recanted testimony of seven witnesses from his trial and the possible confession of another suspect, which his defense team claimed cast too much doubt on Davis' guilt to follow through with an execution.
Several witnesses recanted their testimony that Davis fired the shot that killed MacPhail. His impending execution has brought those efforts to a head.

A growing tide of celebrities, politicians and social media users called for the execution to be delayed because of "too much doubt" present in his case.

At a protest in front of the White House today, at least 12 Howard University students were arrested for failing to move off the White House sidewalk, according to ABC News affiliate WJLA. The protest there was expected to last until 7 p.m.
A flurry of messages on Twitter using the hashtags #TroyDavis and #TooMuchDoubt showed thousands of supporters of Davis were intent on flooding the Jackson Distirct Attorney's Office, Georgia Judge Penny Freezeman's office, and the U.S. Attorney General's Office with phone calls and emails to beg for a stay on the execution.
Some users accused Twitter of blocking the topic from trending on Tuesday, though a representative from Twitter told ABC News there was no such action taken. The hashtags were trending today in cities around the U.S. as well as Germany, the U.K., Sweden, and France. Many tweets called the case a symbol of a return to Jim Crow laws and racial inequalities in the justice system.
Big Boi, a member of the group Outkast, tweeted to his followers to go to the Georgia state prison in Jackson to protest the decision. The Roots' Questlove tweeted a similar message.
The NAACP and the Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson held a news conference today calling for the execution to be halted.
Amnesty International, which has been fighting on behalf of Davis, encouraged supporters to attend a vigil at the church across the street from the prison at 5:30 p.m. and a protest at 6 p.m., and asked participants to wear a black armband and write on it, "Not in my name!"
Wendy Gozen Brown, a spokeswoman for Amnesty International, said that Troy Davis would want the protests to remain peaceful.
"In this type of situation, there's always the potential for it to go awry, with certain groups, angry rhetoric," Brown said. "But Troy Davis would want people to keep fighting peacefully, for him and for, as he would put it, all of the other Troy Davises out there."
Others who have voiced support for Davis include former President Jimmy Carter, the pope and a former FBI director.
Davis's execution has been stayed four times for appeals since his conviction in 1989, and the Supreme Court gave him a rare chance to prove his innocence last year, but rejected his plea.
A Georgia board of pardons and paroles rejected Davis's plea for clemency on Tuesday.
ABC News' Arianne de Vogue, Steve Osunsami and Michael S. James contributed to this report.

How Great is our God

The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Jesus, cucify my flesh and pour out your spirit.Amen

I'M BACK!!!!

I'm struggling within myself. I'm a Christian but It so hard to overcome old habits. It like the small victories count but then when you slip up you take three steps back and your victories are stolen from you.I got issues with forgiveness too. My words are taken out of context many times and I've been accused of things that aren't true but sometimes you have to burn yourself in order to rebuild yourself.I feel like I have to burn everything down to the last grain in order for me to let myself feel again. When people hurt you it teaches you to keep them at a distance. You start to depend on yourself and God.I ask people for favors now but it's honestly because I either really don't have it in me to do it myself. I appreciate every person who does something for me and I always try not to forget em'.Like when my friend gives me a ride to a store or to get somethings I need. I love those people I give everything for them. I bury all these things within myself,I don't forget though. It's not because I don't want to forget,I wish I could. If money meant or amounted to anything to him, I would pay God to take away some of these painful memories I have floating around in my brain. Things that I may never forget, I have to see people who I'd rather not see almost everyday. It's a issue that will never be reopened simply because on the plus side I refuse go back. I may reflect on it but I'll never let it happen to me again. I will never let anybody use me or allow myself to be dependent on anyone that way ever again. I'll sit by myself and feel awkward in a room full of people,I'll be the only disagreeing person in a room full of followers. I'll walk alone, no one takes me seriously most of the time anyways so I'll just wait and pray that God makes me victorious. I don't know where I'm going but God brought me this far and unless he says otherwise I'm taking this opportunity and running with it until I reach a destination. I have something that kills me where I am...working at McDonald's for the rest of my life. If I continue it'll be the slow death of my body, wasting away until there's nothing but heartbreak of what could have been and irritating physical pain left.

The Right:Journey Home

Alas,we were taken from the ivory coast, taken from our home.Shackled, dragged, chained, the Nubian Queens and Kings knocked from their thrones and denied their birthrights. The rights to be treated with respect, the right to be treated as a human being and not an animal, the right to prosper above adversity if we wanted to,the right to have a mind that transcends beyond the stars and the shallow drunken stupor of earthbound human thought.WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR DESIRE TO GET BACK THOSE RIGHTS? OUR RIGHTS? The rights to say I don't want to be disrespected to my face and told that because my dreadlocks are "unprofessional" I have to shave them to look like the low cut or fade of the white man. The right to say that I don't want to wear a weave and make myself look like a European when I am clearly a black African American. My skin tone is usually the hardest to find in the most natural of makeup because I am Black with a slight Native American influence, giving my skin a slightly red undertone. This mind is not a new one just a matured one,who remembers things of centuries past though not lived.I can feel it despite time and its evolution creating a gap between us.Having some sort of permission to look back at the future,It like I'm right beside you and I can feel the pain on your face. The pain as your mother is ripped away never to be seen again. The pain of watching as they brand one of your fellow Africans and coming to the realization that you will be next and trying to mentally prepare yourself for the inevitable. The burn of castration to your body. However, today we let this happen without same, the place us in little categorized boxes and  tell us "Stay there nigger this is as far as you go!" and we listen. We allow our selves to be boxed and allow trends and stereotypes to dictate to us who we are.We may embrace our culture but we must also embrace us,the fact that though we are all the same race none of us are the same. Some of us are products of a broken home where violence has become so familiar we don't even recognize it right in front of us.Some of us have been enslaved to doctrines and teachings and must break from the ways of the very law we are saved by to follow the way of the spirit. We must learn to stop second guessing our faith and learn to be at one with God and the universe. We must learn to wholeheartedly say that it is well within my soul.I have struggle through this thing for a purpose and I will believe that until the manifestation of that purpose is revealed.I will stop letting bad habits and evil things have there way when I am upset, hurt,or worried.I will not get upset when things don't go my  way.I thought I knew everything there was to know,I thought I was perfected in my walk to the highest degree. However, one of the best things about walking in the spirit of Christ and TRUE Christian love is always being willing to look at one's self and to grow into more than you currently are.Every person, obstacle, challenge,or enemy is a door to a new season. They are the things you must endure to escape your comfort zone to rise to the occasion and conquer adversity. When life is perfect all the time and your not being challenged PANIC.....ENJOY IT !!!!!! .....BUT PANIC!!! Our ancestors were over-comers and that is why we are still here to enjoy the freedoms and privileges they died for. We are not living our dreams but theirs.

THE ACCIDENTAL OBSESSION

It was an accident from the start.I knew I had a crush on him.Why would I ask him to befriend me of all things. So I could spend ALL my time looking at his page instead of most of it? The great thing about it is I know better I know how it is.Boys like him don't go for girls who are tall, dark skin, and worst of all, overweight. I just could NOT fight my curiosity, he accepted me and I stared at his beautiful face through cyberspace all night.I was obsessed with him, not in love with him.He was only a cute face but yet I wanted to know him.In the end, all these things were hopes of dreamlike, wishful thinking. Now when I go back to work in November I'll have to see HIM if he's still there. I pray he moved on to somewhere else. I am so not prepared for the AWKWARDNESS. If he know I hope he keeps it to himself. I hope he hides it in his subconscious never to let it resurface again. I hope it just........DIES!!!!
